Collective thanks go to the weather, the organisers and of course the hard-working officials and staff. Special mention goes to the pilots and ground crew, all of whom contributed to a smooth and professional flying operation, essential for a successful parachuting championships.
Tense tie breaks
The first item on the Day 6 agenda on September 5th was the tie-break jump in Team Accuracy Landing, between France and Germany, for Silver and Bronze position. The Qatari team could relax after claiming gold on Day 5's tie break but it must have been a restless night in both French and German camps. Yet the teams were fully focused as they boarded the aircraft in the morning. With astonishingly skillful performances by both teams, everyone anxiously awaited as the results flashed onto the display screen with each landing, as the teams preparing to be called for a second tie-break jump. But in the end, Germany just managed to nudge France into bronze position.
The Individual Accuracy Landing also went to tie break: the acclaimed German skydiver Stefan Wiesner took gold, then Czech Hyneck Tabor and France's Thomas Jeannot went head-to-head for silver and bronze medal positions. Hyneck managed to squeeze a few millimetres closer to the mark than Thomas to take the 2024 Vice World Champion title.
