There has been an update regarding the 2021 FAI World Parachuting Championships (Mondial), scheduled to be held in Tanay/Kemerovo, Russia on August 10-20, 2021.    Below is a letter from ISC President, Gillian Rayner:

UPDATE ON THE SITUATION WITH THE ISC MONDIAL

As you are aware, Russia has been banned from hosting World Championships for a period of two years unless “practically and legally impossible” to move them elsewhere.

This is what ISC/FAI is attempting to justify. We currently await a position from WADA following the completion of a very detailed questionnaire from them. We are hopeful for a positive response by mid to end of April.

In the meantime, Russia is going ahead with the organization and is planning to re-issue Bulletin 1 with all the most recent details including a new visa application process.

We are also asking all countries to pre-register as per instructions that will be given by Russia on April 1st. This will give us an idea of the countries that believe they will be in a position to send a delegation and enable us to see if there are sufficient NACs for a competition to go ahead (SC5 4.10).

Once we have confirmation that the competition may take place and we have an idea of who plans to enter, we will then have to make a decision regarding COVID 19. We had initially planned to do this by the end of April, however we may delay that by a few weeks. 

This unique situation makes it very difficult to plan but with the vaccine roll out (although very different from one country to another) and the northern hemisphere summer which last year saw a drop in the number of cases, we are very hopeful that the event will be able to take place.
